Giant cell tumor of tendon sheath
A benign reactive lesion, similar to PVNS. It is a slowly growing and painless lesion of soft tissues. Second most common tumor of the hand.
Lipoma
Usually appears as slow growing, soft, asymptomatic mass. Larger lipomas can give symptoms related to the compression of peripheral nerves.
Liposarcomas
Tumors that arise from fat cells in deep soft tissue. They can vary in their behavior, with some being slow-growing and others more aggressive.
Malignant fibrous histiocytomas (MFH)
Aggressive soft tissue sarcomas that typically occur in the extremities. Characterized by a mix of spindle-shaped cells and can spread rapidly.
Schwannoma
Arises from Schwann cells, which are responsible for producing the myelin sheath around nerves.
Pigmented vilonodular synovitis
A rare, benign condition characterized by the overgrowth of the joint lining, leading to swelling, pain, and reduced mobility.
Synovial chondromatosis
A rare, benign condition where the synovium (joint lining) produces multiple cartilaginous nodules, leading to joint pain, swelling, and reduced mobility.
Synovial sarcoma
A rare and aggressive type of soft tissue cancer that typically arises near joints, particularly in the arms or legs. It often affects young adults.

Prioritizing limb-sparing treatments
We specialize in techniques that give patients the best possible outcomes without amputating arms, legs or other appendages.
During limb-sparing surgery, only the tumor and any of the affected bone or tissue in the surrounding area is removed.
The excised area is then reconstructed using metal implants, muscle flaps and transfers, or bone grafts.
Our goal is not only to preserve limbs, but to maintain as much function and mobility as we can.
