On February 21, 2024, Change Healthcare, a technology company that is part of Optum and owned by UnitedHealth Group, experienced a data security breach. This incident potentially affected the personal and health-related information of individuals who received services from healthcare providers using Change Healthcare’s services, including Atlantic Health System and many other local and national providers. Change Healthcare has begun communicating with impacted customers and providing resources for credit monitoring and identity theft protection.
